House of Portals is a 9,500 sq.ft contemporary residence conceived as an immersive architectural journey where spirituality, nature, and modern living are seamlessly connected through a series of layered spaces and meaningful transitions. Rooted in the idea of the “portal,” the design transforms movement through the home into an experiential narrative, where every threshold, courtyard, and framed opening creates moments of pause, reflection, and connection.

The arrival experience begins through a carefully choreographed north-side entry passage that gradually builds anticipation before opening into a dramatic double-height portal at the northeast corner of the house. This threshold introduces the central organizing element of the residence—a sunken Pooja courtyard that acts as the spiritual and emotional heart of the home. Designed as a living void rather than an enclosed room, the courtyard visually connects all major spaces while allowing natural light, landscape, and rituals to become part of everyday life.
The ground floor houses two ensuite bedrooms alongside expansive living and dining spaces that remain visually connected to the central courtyard. Extending eastward from the Pooja space is a serene veranda overlooking a koi pond and a mature Plumeria tree, creating a calm transitional zone between architecture and landscape. A large east-facing lawn further strengthens the indoor–outdoor relationship, offering open gathering spaces filled with soft morning light.
On the first floor, two additional bedrooms, a family lounge, and an open study overlook the courtyard below, maintaining spatial continuity across levels. A flexible multipurpose zone with a home theatre opens onto large balconies and a terrace deck, creating spaces for leisure, entertainment, and informal interaction. Complementing the central courtyard is a triple-height south courtyard anchored by a Buddha feature wall, bringing natural ventilation, visual depth, and a sense of tranquility into the interiors.
A sculptural staircase weaves through the residence, revealing changing perspectives of courtyards, portals, and double-height volumes as one moves upward. The architectural language is expressed through clean lines, crisp white and grey surfaces, textured finishes, glass balustrades, CNC-crafted pergolas, and carefully integrated landscape elements. Together, these spaces create a residence that is calm yet dramatic—an environment where light, movement, spirituality, and contemporary family living coexist in harmony.
