Project Description

THE MUSTER, located amidst the dense urban context of Chennai. The house is designed for a family of four and sits on a land area of 2000sq.ft. Although the plot is of a considerable size, there is very little residual space, and most of the plot is usable. The concept behind this design lies on how well the house is spatially divided at various levels....

To achieve this experience, the design divided itself into social spaces at the lower floor that have the formal double height gathering areas along with an introverted green space and the upper levels become the semi-intimate parts of the plan with the dining and the kitchen. The connect happens through the double height volume. The plan connects itself in 3 levels in double volumes inter connecting the house.

The social space is connected to the stairway on one side and a semi covered internal courtyard finished with Metal pergolas and Metal CNC patterns that create an interesting composition of light and shade.

The intimate spaces face south as per Vaastu - The areas are designed with a secondary veil designed with a perforated metal facade to increase internal lighting without heating the spaces.

The house is stacked vertically with spaces and predominately has various patterns derived from the mandala art making it ethnic which is the owners taste as well. The interior pallet also inspires from the same creating a connect with external and internal volume.
